AMERICAS is a provocative thriller set against the current of immigration and the spread of violent, Los Angeles-bred gang culture throughout the American continent.
Seventeen year-old Moni only wants to prove her merit to the neighborhood gang. So when a drug deal goes awry, she volunteers to take a hostage south to Mexico. Her uncle Javier, recently released from prison, wants a better life for Moni and so strikes a secret deal with the gang's leader: I'll make sure she does the job and in return you release both of us from the gang forever. But in Mexico, with the authorities closing in, Javier is forced take the trio further south on a journey that pulls him back into the ruthless violence he has so desperately tried to escape. And by seeing Javier emerge as the ruthless gangster of his past, Moni finally learns the lesson her uncle had been trying to teach her all along.
The film will be written by David Mendes and directed by Vicente Amorim.
